While John Glenn took his geriatric joyride at taxpayer expense, Wally Funk (of the Mercury 13 and a Nobel Peace Prize nominee) has at age 62 hooked up with Interorbital Systems for a planned 7-day orbit in 2005 at a cost of $2 million:
