For anyone in the Boston area, we will be taking a trip out to wallace observatory to see a bit of cool stuff in the sky on August 9th. If you are interested in coming please send me an email. it should be a lot of fun looking at planets, galaxies, and nebulae.

p.s. Wallace is the MIT observatory located in Westford MA. We'll be taking a van there from MIT about 7:30pm.

For the Wallace trip this friday I have these people signed up:

Juan Montoya
Katonio Butler
Nasruddin Nazerali (+1)
Tao Yue
Joshua Neubert

Please meet at the SEDS office (rm 445 MIT student center) at 7:30pm on friday. We will head out from there to Wallace and leave wallace sometime around 1am.

It's looking to be a great trip. The small number of people will be good to let us all see things that we want to see.

So we had a great little trip out to wallace. It took a while to actually find anything that we were trying to look at, but it all comes with time and practice. We did get to see the Ring Nebula, and the Andromeda Galaxy. We also got M2 in the finder scope but couldn't quite get it in the telescope before we decided to leave.

Nonetheless, it was a great night out. We will be having probably 2 trips to wallace per semester so if you missed this one, you can probably catch one coming up.

I hope everyone that went had a great time. Next time we'll try to go out when some planets are up to observe. Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn are beautiful through the Wallace Telescopes.

Following on with our series of trips to Wallace Observatory we will be heading out there Saturday, November 16th. We will probably be able to catch a few meteors from the very beginning of the Leonids Storm coming up. Also we'll have two-three of the shed telescopes available to us to view.

At this time of the year there are quite a few interesting items in the sky. Most notably the Orion Nebula.

Send an email to neubjr@mit.edu if you are interested in coming on this trip.
