UASEDS will be taking a trip this summer to the Mars Society Convention at
the University of Colorado in Boulder. For more info on the convention itself
go to http://www.marssociety.org/convention/2002/. The convention itself
is Aug 8-11(Thur-Sun). We will probably be leaving sometime in the afternoon
on Wed. Aug 7 and driving straight through to Boulder. The drive is approx.
15 hours long so we should arrive on Thursday morning (Exact date and time
of departure to be determined, if you didn't want to leave on this day, we
could be flexible).

Transportation: Personal Vehicles

Cost: $60 student admission to convention, gas money, share in hotel room/campsite(to
be determined by those going),food, etc.

So I know that the Mars Society Conference is basically going on Now and unfortunately I am not there. So I was just wondering, what do people who are there think of it? Anything new and exciting? Also what could be done to organize it better? Or what do they do that is really good organizationally?

Just Wondering. Let us poor folks who couldn't go know how it all went.

Joshua.

I couldn't make it to this year's conference, but last year's conference at Stanford was fun.

The highlight was the U of Michigan's Mars Rover - it's incredible! http://umrover.org/ I guess I live too close to JPL because when someone says "rover" I think of the printer-sized variety...not the rovers to carry 3-4 people around in a shirt-sleeve environment.

So if you're looking for MarsWeek ideas, great displays are very cool to have around...maybe even some Lego Mars rovers for the kids? Not packing the schedule too tight is a good idea too(I'm sure you know that talks always go on longer than you think).

And ice cream socials are always a welcome addition to any space fete!
