Hi Everyone,

Ok, I am really excited to work on making Illinois Space Day 2007 "Destination Space" work this year. It is an all day Saturday event where about 60-100 grade school kids come down to UofI and learn about space for a day through small group activities. The event will probably run from 9-4 and have a speaker and maybe a demo from Physics Van or CIA rocket club. I don't have a date yet, but am planning for mid-February.

As you can see this is no small project. Here is a list of what needs to be planned:

Publicity - to schools for participants and campus for volunteers
Finance/Sponsors - Money and Freebe stuff for goody-bags
Participant Registration
Food - Lunch (everyone) and Breakfast/Dinner for volunteers
Activities/Materials - figure out activities and what we need for each one
Booklet - create with speaker, activity, schedule, and sponsor info
Logistics - Room reservations, event scheduling
Digital - camera person/slide show
LOGO - T-shirts, name badges, etc.
Volunteers - group leaders, material movers, extra hands
Speaker - who, bio, getting them to and from event
Training - Sat. before event as a run-through of what the day will be like.

You can volunteer a lot and head up one of these catagories or volunteer a little and help create one of the small group activities, it is your choice.

If you are interesting in working with or have experience in working with any of these areas let me know. I will be holding a meeting within the next few weeks to get everything rolling.
