In response to impalaplaya's request on the Q&A board, I thought I post a couple of interesting quotes that I've come across.
What moves men of genius, or rather what inspires their work, is not new ideas, but their obsession that what has already been said is still not enough.
-- Eugene Delacroix
Personal self-satisfaction is the death of the scientist. Collective self-satisfaction is the death of the research. It is restlessness, anxiety, dissatisfaction, agony of the mind that nourish science.
-- Jaques-Lucien Monod
No problem can withstand the assault of sustained thinking.
-- Voltaire
I probably have more quotes lying about somewhere. If I find any more, I'll post them here.
