I just moved to Dallas, school for SDD?
The Sci-fi I've been reading recently is by a colleague of mine at JPL, Gentry Lee. Its a collaboration with Arthur C. Clarke: the Rama series (starting with Rama II). I've read that one and Garden of Rama. I have yet to read Rama Revealed but I am eager to do so, as the previous two were very interesting.
There's an interesting treatment of "how and why" things are in the scenery and plotline that an engineer might be motivated to include, and there's plenty of interesting philosphy as well. I should probably get around to reading Clarke's first tome in the series, but Gentry has told me that everything is explained in Rama II that is important...
