One of the consistent bits of feedback we get here is: wouldn't it be great if you had one login to get into the wiki, forums, etc.? Good call. We've got all of these good tools on the server (http://wiki.seds.org/index.php/SEDS_Server), but you have to login separately to each. We'll try to fix that. If you have any suggestions about how to go about this, I would appreciate any support you could give; I'm a rocket scientist, not a, um, hmmm... forum login maker guy...

That's interesting. I wonder how Amazon is doing it...

I've been wanting to do this for some time, but my flight projects and other hobbies keep me away from it. I'd love to see SEDS use an LDAP-driven database to provide not only an integrated login to all of the various web services we have, but also to manage membership information, chapter info, email list membership, seds.org webmail/email accounts, etc, etc...
Having worked at JPL for many years now, JPL has an extremely-well integrated and capable system based on LDAP storage of the personnel database. I'm hoping to meet with the experts here at JPL sometime and see what we might be able to apply at SEDS.
For those who are interested in helping, read up on LDAP, OpenLDAP, etc... We already have the server running at SEDS.org (its what holds your seds.org login info, for those that have unix accounts), and we just need to extend that...
Further more, once its in place, we can use this database as a way to extend the SEDS digital empire to multiple locations and multiple servers if necessary.
