Hello All
SEDS - EARTH is inviting all international SEDS chapter heads to attend our meeting this Monday [10 December] at 1400 GMT. The agenda is as follows:
1) Introductions
2) Chapter Updates
3) The next SEDS - EARTH project
The chat will take place at http://seds.org/chat as a primary option. Should this not work, we will be on Yahoo! Messenger, in a conference. Message me on goldenleo9@yahoo.com to get an invite.
This will be a great opportunity for all SEDS leaders to get in touch with their peers and benefit from the strengths and experiences of the other chapters. I hope to see you all there!
Sincerely
Lavina Parwani
President

Cool, good to see these happen again. Save the transcript, if you think about it. We can post it to the wiki so it's something you can reference later.

Yep. Is there a previous format for labeling the pages/links for SEDS-EARTH transcripts?

Hey Lavina, how did the meeting go?
If you want, I can set up a series of templates like I did for SEDS-USA; see: http://wiki.seds.org/index.php/Category:2007-2008_SEDS-USA_Meetings as an example. It's not that hard, but I can give you a quick step-by-step so that you can use the format in the future.

That would be great, although I did already post the transcript using the SEDS USA template. Is that what you were referring to?

OK, I found where you put the transcript. For the most part -- 90% -- it was all done well. I made a few cosmetic changes and created a template to round it out.
You created: http://wiki.seds.org/index.php/2007_December_10_SEDS-Earth_Transcript (admission: I uncapitalized the Earth in SEDS-Earth... it looked funny to me the other way, but if that's the way you want it, OK, go for it)
Associated with that, I created a template that lists all of the meetings for the 2007 calendar year: http://wiki.seds.org/index.php/Template:2007_SEDS-Earth_Meetings. You can display this on any page you want by typing {{2007 SEDS-Earth Meetings}} (In MediaWiki-speak: you can "transclude" a template by putting the template name in double curly-brackets, i.e., can call it to another page)
As an example, I posted that template on your transcript page (you were trying to call it already, but it didn't exist yet) and the category page: http://wiki.seds.org/index.php/Category:2007_SEDS-Earth_Meetings
Basically, you got everything right, I just polished a few details. In SEDS-USA, they divide the meeting notes by academic year, which I think makes sense to them; in a single country, most universities go by the same academic year. Worldwide, it may be a little different, so I set the timeframe for the notes by calendar year. So, you'll get the chance to make a new set of templates in 2008 :)

Perfect. Thank you. You polished exactly those details that I couldn't figure out :)

Hope you had a great meeting! Was on my way back from exams and so couldn't attend.
Anyway, I just "browsed" through the meeting transcripts. It'd be great if someone who attended could write a small minutes of the meeting. We can post that on the blog. IF you're too busy and can wait till 29th Dec., I can do it myself too. No worries and no hurry!
Just to clarify on the CC of SEDS-Earth: the SEDS-Earth Council. The Council was created with minimum responsibility of maintaining the mailing list, blog and website. Althought, Kirk is still taking care of the website.
As far as the Space Information Archive is concerned, right now we're adding content as we find links ourselves - on blogs, on other websites etc. I don't think there is a concerted effort to do it. Will just take 5 extra mins to add content to the wiki. But, it'd be great to get local help from all SEDS chapters. They know more about their country than we do.
Also, for the next meeting, send an email to all the reps and ask them to confirm or decline to join the meeting. It won't be forced on everyone but atleast we can know before-hand if it's worth conducting at all. Being the largest and the oldest national chapters, I hope SEDS-USA and UKSEDS participate in this meeting.
And, I'll do my best for attending the meeting!!

Mike was charged with the responsibility of drawing up the minutes, as well as informing the chapters about the next meeting.
The call for this particular meeting WAS answered by some chapter reps, and they let me know via email whether they could make it or not.

The point IS to create a concerted effort; it will produce quicker and more relevant results. If we want the SEDS Wiki to be a real archive that people will go to and even rely on, we have to give them quality content.
The concerted effort will also get the international SEDS chapters working with one another, which really is a great thing.
