What can I get from Mars that I can’t get from anywhere else? Suppose your some future marketing agent and your trying to sell the idea for colonizing Mars to a bunch of potential investors! How would you attract investors from say your competitors trying to develop say Titan or Europa? Is your company going to go bankrupt supporting an ill-fated development cause? There are two sides to this story - analogous to:

(1) Once someone tried drum up some investments for the
steam-powered aircraft engine. (actually this might work
in places where weight is not a constraint and the
system is closed-think about it!)

(2) Someone tried to develop Alaska an absurd idea once!

I need an invest brochure what would I list?

I have a friend who could care less about space exploration he said –paraphrased: “If you had the technology to colonize space then you could colonize anywhere! And if you could colonize anywhere why not pick the rich targets?

There is always something stunning about the logic of an idea that comes from outside the paradigm. It was just all so practical to him-maybe someday it will be?

Once you have the techniques and technologies down, colonizing Mars will probably be easier than colonizing anywhere else in the solar system.

The moon will preclude Mars, but will not support the population that Mars can.
