Where they stand:

I am particularly disheartened by Obama's proposal to fund his education program by further gutting NASA's already pitiful budget, and by delaying the already delayed Constellation (badly needed shuttle replacement) program by a further 5 years.

Especially because I may vote for Obama myself. I like Edwards stance the best among the Dems.

I don't think one can't be pro-space and pro-education at the same time...hell, Sputnik, and during the run-up to Apollo, we made science education a *priority* in this country.

And in a time where China is setting it's sites on the Moon, and even Russia is expanding it's frontiers into the ocean, I think the last thing we need to be doing is backing down on exploration!

Just my opinion.

BTW, here is Obama's feedback site if you want to put in your 2 cents: http://my.barackobama.com/page/s/contact2

So I leave you with on of my favorite West Wing quotes:

Sam Seaborn: There are lots of hungry people in the world, Mall, and none of them are hungry because we went to the Moon. None of them are colder and certainly none of them are dumber because we went to the Moon.
Mallory O'Brian: And we went to the Moon. Do we really have to go to Mars?
Sam Seaborn: Yes.
Mallory O'Brian: Why?
Sam Seaborn: Because it's next. Because we came out of the cave, and we looked over the hill and we saw fire; and we crossed the ocean and we pioneered the west, and we took to the sky. The history of man is on a timeline of exploration and this is what's next.

Unfortunately, given Obama's position on funding NASA during his campaign, it is not likely that any change from him would be for the better. Obama is not exactly a space enthusiast. I think he views manned spaceflight (as carried out by NASA) as frivolous.
