Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position (Research Associate) associated with the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter Camera (LROC) experiment (LRO will launch in late 2008 or early 2009) and the High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment (HiRISE) which was launched on the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter in August of 2006. The research will be conducted at the Lunar and Planetary Laboratory at the University of Arizona. The research areas of special interest are impact cratering, other geologic studies, quantitative studies using digital topography, and derivation of topographic models from photometric stereo (LRO). Assistance with targeting as well as analysis of LROC and HiRISE images is needed. The support is expected to be available for at least two years with a starting salary range of $36,000 to $42,000 (which may be negotiable depending on experience).
