Hello fellow SEDS members. This post cover some ideas from our first meeting.

Amongst things suggested:

1.Start semenars with high school students. This will help our push towards the development of space in the long run by getting students actively involved in some exciting activities.

2.Participate in pro-space activities around and out of state. It would reward active members in the group, and may get current members to become more active and enthusiastic about the group.

3. Get into the school newspaper and possibly form alliances with other space enthusist groups. This in turn would get the word out about SEDS.

4.Request funds from University based support groups. Will be used to fund our activities or anything else the group needs.

5.Make some models of spacecraft. This could be used to display at any one of our activities.

This meeting was held at the University of Minnesota at 5:00 and ended at 6:00. There were 6 members who attended this meeting. Our goal for this year is to increase membership since we started late in the year. This is just the beginning and we are enthusiastic about our future at the University of Minnesota.

Another concept aired by many former SEDS members at Space Access 2003 was that we should definitely build some flight hardware, whatever might be within our abilities.

I suggest that we build a remote controlled, small-scale solar powered airship.

Seems to be within our capablities and will allow us what we need to know to scale up...

Where could we get the funds for this airship? Is it something we can do sonner than later?

What would be really cool is if we get a public seminar to draw peoples attention towards SEDS.

For funds, we'll have to figure it out.

Carmack suggested we start building something as well.

Perhaps we might start looking at building a really small monoprop peroxide rocket...
