The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign chapter of SEDS (ISS) has invited Gregg Maryniak to speak for a panel and give a presentation on November 30th at 6pm. All are invited to Foellinger Auditoruim for this once in a lifetime event. This is one of a series of space education related events associated X-day. If anyone is in the area this day, please come out to UIUC to learn about and support the private sector of the space industry. We want to provide the enthusiastic and receptive audience that Mr. Maryniak deserves. ::Go. Gregg::[/FONT]

I really think we should get X-Day t-shirts. I mentioned this at the meeting on Sunday. There are a few pros to getting t-shirts:
a.) We can wear them on X-Day to identify ourselves as X-Day workers
b.) We can wear them before X-Day to promote the event
c.) We can wear them after X-Day just to be cool
I'll get a T-Shirt put together if no one else wants to. We can email the ISS mail list and ask for suggestions for t-shirt designs too. Someone along the lines of the X-Prize t-shirts we had would be cool.

We have some educational outreach presentations planned at Uni High!
Just keeping you all updated...
Also, check out the recently revised web page: http://illinois.seds.org/xday. I have grown attached to the "fortune favors the bold" theme for X DAY and I hope that Illinois SEDS will keep the theme and X DAY idea after I am gone in May. We don't have to have X PRIZE people for the X DAY -- just have someone who isn't afraid to risk his/her reputation to push back the boundaries of space so that everyone else can join in. That's all I ask.
Hopefully, one of us will be able to come back as the special X DAY guest presenter one day. How cool would that be?

Hey,
I was talking to Stef today and she said she and about 4 other people are willing to help with x-day and that she has a car :'D
Is there a meeting or can we plan a meeting for this week to work out details etc. about projects/groups for the educational outreach stuff?

Anybody have a good design for the X-Day T-shirts? I was thinking of putting the gigantic X on the back, with "day" under it so it says X-Day, and then just on the front over the left breast have "Illinois Space Society X-Day", in some sort of fancy fashion. Any other ideas? I'm not the most artistically creative person. ;)

Hey Mark. I'm not so sure that designing and getting a shirt for this event is a good use of our bandwidth. I'm much more in favor of designing an Illinois Space Society t-shirt for next semester. As it is, it would be hard to guarantee that we would get the shirts back in less than two weeks. Also, I don't know where we would get the money for the initial investment on the shirts.
I think that a better application of our time would go into designing the event program and the educational outreach materials.

That's fine, we can hold off on shirts until next semester. Are we going to have any other form of identification so we stand out from the general crowd? Name tags or something of that sort?
