SEDS is an international student organization whose purpose is to promote space exploration and development through educational and engineering projects. SEDS is fostering the development of future leaders and contributors in the expanding space industry.

The nationwide SEDS USA organization oversees the individual chapters, enabling them to be connected and create networks with each other.

SEDS History

1980

SEDS was founded at MIT primarily by Peter Diamandis, Scott Scharfman, Richard Sorkin, Robert D. Richards, and Todd B. Hawley.

1990

First National SEDS conference that SEDS continued to host each year, sometimes in conjunction with the International Space Development Conference through 1997, when the last “SEDS National Conference” was held. Today, to continue the conference legacy, SpaceVision conferences are held each year.
