why don't we fire up the research and work being put into getting space stations at asteroid fields etc. and get some mining going ya? 'ain't' there rocks in space consisting of solid metals?

I understand that building facilities from marsian resources or landing earth built structures is expensive and crude. Why not have an external source of resources such as dropping some asteroids onto mars and having high tech durable construction bots and computer controlled tractors start paving the way for massive steel structures eh?

It's not like they built all of those huge star destroyers in space right? they shuttled off of planets and mined asteroid fields for that metal. in a universe as big as ours there should be more solid minerals in this galaxy alone traveling a few thousand Km/h to equal the size of our very own star ya?

stop reading up and taking classes and thinking of theoryies and reawaken the yearn to get to space. Not to the moon, but to mars, and then a man outside of our universe, and then beyond that. Who knows what kind of new natural elements humanity will discover on extreme differentiated globes.

One does need some background to be able to do anything you describe.

An engineering degree sure doesn't hurt...or some transportation...

ever hear of the stock market? I won't actually 'own' it. I will own bunches of stocks.

I have designed some feasable systems NASA could use but I think I would let them continue to struggle with making everything small and cheap and made of plastic before I reveal any of my designs for massive stellar vessels. They would probably cost about 4 times more than what NASA is trying to make and it would be about 10 times larger and automated. Just need some space stations and a construction bay on a very low gravity based satellite (luna). eh, who cares.

WHEN I finish my designs in the years to come I will ship 'em over to a funding agency and get started on my own space program. NASA is making things too complicated and too simple. and the whole strategy on letting other countries do the work sure was a good idea.
