So what is the proper proceedure for this? I've seen the proposals, so is there going to be a vote or will we be able to ask them questions (say in this thread?), things like that?

Every chapter gets one vote, to be sent from the chapter representative to the exec board by February 16.

If you have any questions for Illinois you can ask them here. Kirk, Alex, Neal, myself, or any of our other conference planning committee members will be more than happy to address them.

Can anybody from outside the US-SEDS also put forth proposals for this or is it just restricted to the chapters from the SEDS-US?

The intention of a National Conferance is to mainly bring chapters from the host country together, with invites going out to our friends in other countries to attend. UK-SEDS also has a National Conferance of their own, if I recall correctly.

Therefore it would be counter-productive to host a USA-SEDS National Conferance in India, where there would be few USA-SEDS members able to attend.

If you are interested in hosting a conferance, you might want to talk to the rest of the country chapters involved in starting SEDS-EARTH and submit a proposal to have the first SEDS-EARTH conferance in India.

And of course you are welcome to attend the USA-SEDS National Conferance in November ;-)

This reminds me: I talked to the program manager of the Space Generation Congress (this October it's in Fukuoka, Japan) and he was receptive to giving the international SEDS organization some time at the conference. I need to follow up on that....

Just a note, if Illinois hosts the conference, it will not be titled "SpaceVision 2005". We have yet to come up with a good title, but we have been tossing a few around.

We hope to have the title change each year as the theme changes.

It's likely that it would still be titled SpaceVision if held at Illinois. Thomas from the MIT Mars Society planning team and I both agree that it would be a good tradition to start. SpaceVision could become synonymous with SEDS Conference.
