Need help in keeping the chapter lively

Postby Bharat » April 1st, 2008, 8:40 am

A group of my friends have come together to form a new chapter in our college . Now the problems we are facing are very much similar to the ones you are facing inthis forum : Saving this forum !!!! DANIEL .
We have only a handful of people who maintain the steady feeds . Others , well are content in remaining inactive . Now some of us came up with the idea of conducting competitions which can provide a nice spurt in energy levels , however we couldn't come up with anything worthwhile .Apart from holding water rocketry competitions , we aren't sure of what else we can do . Any ideas ?

hello Bharat,

The SEDS VIT Annual Report can throw some light on solving the dilemma you guys are confronting. It has a list of all events and activities in a gist conducted by SEDS VIT this year.

Apart from this SEDS India would soon release the Event Catalogue, which would be a boon by serving as a repository of all the events and activities we conduct.

contact me on anmolsharma.141@gmail.com for further details.....

cheers,
Anmol

Water rocketry competitions are a good idea. Make sure you have a discussion board or list of some sort so that members can contribute ideas easily, and also a way of spreading news to all your members. Send round occasional news about the industry to keep people's interest, maybe. You can also try and get hold of small model rockets, like ESTES rockets. There's probably a rocketry organisation somewhere near you who hold regular launches. You can organise a group trip to one of those, which is always good fun. You can also organise trips to national and international space conferences. Maybe start a project, like one of the CubeSAT competitions?

I might agree with most of the things you've said.

But, in India launching model rockets hasn't been tried beyond secret backyard launches. I've been trying to meet people and ask a few lawyers about it. There aren't any clear instruction set on it yet. We're working on that..
