Hi. My name is Bob Brashear. I am not a student at the U but I have an interest in space activities. Currently I am a member of the International Experimental Aerospace Society. I read a thread on this forum about some ideas and I have a proposal. Several of the members in IEAS North Central are working on a rocket powered by a solid propellant motor. Simulations have the motor putting out about 800 lbs of thrust for 6 seconds. Oxidizer is Phase Stabilized Ammonium Nitrate, Fuel is 650 mesh Magnesium, both in an R-45HTLO binder. The motor is 4.5 inches in diameter and about 50 inches long. This is a prototype. We intend to static test the motor at the end of this month or the beginning of October. If all goes well, we will fly the rocket. We intend to upscale the motor eventually to 10 or 12 inches in diameter.

I will be attending the seminar on the 16th of September and would like to meet many of you. I think an "alliance" of sorts between SEDS and IEAS would be beneficial to both organizations.

Thanks for your time.

Bob Brashear

I very much agree with you. Look forward to having you at the meeting.

We currently have an alliance in effect between MNSFS (Minnesota Space Frontier Society) and SEDS. We could very easily make it a 3 way venture, especially since the MNSFS members should be at the meeting as well.
